Vitamin C Rich Antioxidant Fruit + Benefits

Both my mother and grandmother (in fact my great grandmother as well) would tell me that vitamin C helps prevent colds and that the best source was fresh orange juice.

Well things haven’t changed and various scientific reports are confirming this.

Makes you wonder about old wives tale, doesn´t it?

(Just to clarify, in no way am I referring to the afore mentioned ladies as “old wives”)

So why is vitamin C good for you? Vitamin C is an antioxidant vitamin and one of the top players in the antioxidant game.

It helps with:

  • Growth
  • Body tissue
  • Wound repair
  • Efficient immune system
  • Cholesterol reduction
  • Regulate your blood pressure

As a supplement too much vitamin C can result in a sensitive, irritable stomach and mouth ulcers.

Some easily available beneficial fruits that are rich in vitamin C are:

  • Oranges
  • Grapefruit (especially pink)
  • Papaya
  • Kiwi Fruit (green and yellow)
  • Black Currants * (surprised?)
  • Guava, tropical
  • Mangoes

I find an early morning fruit juice or cocktail can do wonders for your health and your mood.

I have been experimenting with juice blends and frankly I am not sure which I like best, although I tend to pass on the papaya juice.

(I prefer papaya in square chunks, bathed in orange juice).
